Palacio Real del Madrid

So today I woke up super tired. I didn't sleep much. It was terrible. I ate some breakfast quickly before school and walked over there with a group of friends. Class today was torture. I was so tired, I kept falling asleep. It was terrible. Today's class was over the Franco era, women were really restricted in their ways of life. It was a stark contrast to the 60s of the USA. Afterwards we came home for lunch, salad with watermelon. Then we had to run back for a tour. I finally was about to get money out of the ATM though! I am so happy. =] Our tour was to the royal palace. Only a couple people from our study abroad group went. It was Casey, Kelly, Catherine, Beth, Elana, Neha, Devon, and I am to tired to remember if there were others. Haha The monarchy doesn't live there anymore, they only go there to hold special events, like the wedding. We rode on the metro for the first time, it was a lot smaller than France's metro. I love taking the metro though, public transportation is the best. Efficient and sustainable. =] The palace is pretty big. We could only take pictures of the outside though, which always seems to be the case with these fancy museum type buildings. The outside was nice. The inside was crazy ornate. CRAZY ORNATE. There were random strange hybrid creatures that Casey and I kept pointing out. Really weird. Afterwards we went back, but Neha and I detached ourselves from the group to get our SIM cards. It was pretty easy and only 12 Euros. Then we went home for dinner. Which was white rice with an egg. Not what I was hoping for. After dinner Kelly and I had to interview a madridliaño. We walked around for a while with Casey, Devon, and Graham trying to muster up the courage to be a creeper and confront one. Finally we got an old lady with a dog. It was really nice, she is 81 and in love with fascism. She talked for an hour straight without us saying anything. Afterwards Kelly and I went to a beach themed bar that had a ton of sand on the floor, like an actual beach! It was really intimate with candles and dim lights and floor pillows. We had a lovely date with mango daiquiri and tequila sunrise. Then we went back and talked with Graham and Casey about their interview. They had a Mexican guy who spoke in English. I just finished watching the movie for tomorrow which didn't make sense and now we are writing a paper and I need to study. It is 1:30 am, it is going to be a long night.
