This week has been really hectic so far. I have had so much work it has really gotten me tired. On Monday after class we went to the Museo Reina Sofia. It was really nice. I got to see a bunch of Picasso and Dalí paintings. Afterwards we had to go out and find someone to talk to, but instead we just went out for a drink and hung out. Then we decided to use a conversation that we had before with someone for our paper for that day. We went back to the room and studied for our test the next day and we had to watch a movie. the next day, after our super long class, I stayed up super late working on my presentation with Lauren. It was terrible, it took 6 hours to find the answer to one question. Then I went to bed around 2 am and woke up at 8 am to study for the test. I was so tired. After I got my presentation done I felt better for a little while, but I had to do the final project all the night since it was due the next day. We had to find people to interview and then go and make a documentary. It was horrible, we could not find anyone. After searching for a long time we finally found two people. It was already 10 pm. I worked on writing our voice over and getting pictures, while Kelly worked on editing the video. Finally at 3 am I told Kelly I was too tired and was going to bed. She stayed up until 4 am. We then woke up at 7 am to finish the project and study for our last huge test for this two week class. I was so tired. In class today we did the test, which I think I did well on and we watched everyone's videos which took forever. Now I just woke up from a 2 hour nap and am going to find something to do.

Fin de semana con mis tíos
This past weekend my mom's uncle and aunt came to pick me up for the weekend. I waited in the lobby after class until they got there. Beth and Catherine were coming into the residence before them and were really confused as to why I stood up and started walking towards them. I pointed to my uncle behind them and they got really embarrassed for asking me. I packed up a bag for the weekend and we left. I feel asleep on the ride there since I was so tired. When we got to their house I took a three hour nap! Afterwards we went out to eat at this restaurant where there was a bunch of fish. It was really good and they stuffed me with food. At the end of dinner the waiters put candles on the tables and all the lights were turned off. Then there was a song put on, it was for one of the virgins, I forgot which one. It was really pretty. We then went home and tried to get a hold of my parents to no avail. In the morning I woke up around 10 am and ate breakfast with my aunt. Then I helped around the house and with the pool. Carolina showed up in time for lunch. We went further up into the mountains. We took a walk before we had lunch, neither I nor Carolina were wearing walking friendly shoes. Oh well, we got to the restaurant and had paella. It was really good. Then we went home and sat around for a while until we had to pick up my cousin who was flying in from Barcelona, Juan David. His flight was delayed forever. We just sat at the airport for over an hour. When we finally got back we went out to dinner. We met up with Carolina's husband. We went to a restaurant that brings out different little plates and you just grab what you want. It was really fun. After that we walked around and had some ice cream. Then we went home and I talked to mom. Then off to bed. I woke up again at 10 am and had breakfast with uncle Jorge. Then I helped him clean the pool. After cleaning, my aunt made lunch. Gaspacho. It was really good. WE ate outside which was even nicer. Finally I went home and did some homework. =P

Estadio de Madrid y Museo Prado
School like every other day went well. Afterwards we went to the stadium in Madrid. It was huge! It was pretty cool, there were a bunch of trophies and stuff inside. After that I was kind of grumpy and drank some juice. I did all my work which was nice, so we decided to go out. We includes, Lauren, Jasmine, Beth, Catherine, Neha, and Graham. It was a pretty fun group. We had round of shots, which was probably a bad idea on a school night. I also had a margarita which included a gummie star. It was really good. Finally we went home and I proceeded to lift everyone. I was holding them like babies. Haha it was pretty ridiculous and some lady told us to be quiet, so we went to bed. In the morning I was so tired. I went to class but was half asleep. After class we went to the Museo Prado! It was pretty cool. I got to see the most famous of Diego Velazquez's paintings which I learned about in high school! I also saw a bunch of Flemish paintings which I really like. It was a ton of walking though, so my feet were really tired. When we got back we needed to do our conversation. So we went and talked to the first guy we saw. He is walking across Spain right now, yes ACROSS SPAIN! That is so insane and actually he kind of was too. He said people should stay in their appropriate countries and not immigrate. He also said he had three children each one from a different women and he stressed that he did not promise them anything! It was really weird, he also had about four teeth. Afterwards we bought a bottle of wine and a thing of sangria. We went to our room and had a little party with Casey, Graham and Neha! It was super fun, we just hung out and talked forever. Then we went to bed but it was super late and I didn't study for my quiz. The next morning I felt like dying and could not stay awake in class, it was really bad.

Palacio Real del Madrid
So today I woke up super tired. I didn't sleep much. It was terrible. I ate some breakfast quickly before school and walked over there with a group of friends. Class today was torture. I was so tired, I kept falling asleep. It was terrible. Today's class was over the Franco era, women were really restricted in their ways of life. It was a stark contrast to the 60s of the USA. Afterwards we came home for lunch, salad with watermelon. Then we had to run back for a tour. I finally was about to get money out of the ATM though! I am so happy. =] Our tour was to the royal palace. Only a couple people from our study abroad group went. It was Casey, Kelly, Catherine, Beth, Elana, Neha, Devon, and I am to tired to remember if there were others. Haha The monarchy doesn't live there anymore, they only go there to hold special events, like the wedding. We rode on the metro for the first time, it was a lot smaller than France's metro. I love taking the metro though, public transportation is the best. Efficient and sustainable. =] The palace is pretty big. We could only take pictures of the outside though, which always seems to be the case with these fancy museum type buildings. The outside was nice. The inside was crazy ornate. CRAZY ORNATE. There were random strange hybrid creatures that Casey and I kept pointing out. Really weird. Afterwards we went back, but Neha and I detached ourselves from the group to get our SIM cards. It was pretty easy and only 12 Euros. Then we went home for dinner. Which was white rice with an egg. Not what I was hoping for. After dinner Kelly and I had to interview a madridliaño. We walked around for a while with Casey, Devon, and Graham trying to muster up the courage to be a creeper and confront one. Finally we got an old lady with a dog. It was really nice, she is 81 and in love with fascism. She talked for an hour straight without us saying anything. Afterwards Kelly and I went to a beach themed bar that had a ton of sand on the floor, like an actual beach! It was really intimate with candles and dim lights and floor pillows. We had a lovely date with mango daiquiri and tequila sunrise. Then we went back and talked with Graham and Casey about their interview. They had a Mexican guy who spoke in English. I just finished watching the movie for tomorrow which didn't make sense and now we are writing a paper and I need to study. It is 1:30 am, it is going to be a long night.

Los campeones
After class and lunch, I ended up watching the movie for the next class. It was pretty sad, but not terrible. I kind of liked it. After that we ate dinner. NO EGGS! There was asparagus, zucchini, carrots, and yogurt! Exciting, I know. The yogurt is for dinner every night. I was so happy. Then we went out into the city center to look at the soccer players! They just got back in town and there was a huge procession. Everyone was going crazy! The music was blaring and people were climbing everything, just to see them. I saw them on the big screen, but that was about it. We were too far away. It was really fun though, we danced and hung out with Madrid! We tried to move closer all the time but we were crammed like sardines. It was hot, sweaty and smelly. Haha The players left and we got to get closer to the front with the DJ who was still there. We danced for a while and then decided to proceed home. It was like a maze, they blocked so many different streets, it was ridiculous. Finally we made it out. While walking home we stopped for gelato! I got ricotta fig and cinnamon milk stuff, it was delicious. I am going to get fatter. Not good. Now I need to study for my quiz tomorrow, take a shower, and go to bed. =P

So I am in Spain! I got here on Saturday, sorry for not updating. I was tired. Saturday we were at the airport for a long time waiting for someone to arrive. Afterwards we went to the residencia. It was really weird the bus driver just dropped us off and told us it is that way. We made it though. My luggage wheels are broken though, so I had to carry it the whole way. Once we got there the lady started to call out names for rooms. I finally got called and tried to lift my luggage over another luggage to go to the lady and ended up falling down. I got straight up and told them I was fine, everyone asked a million times. I said I was, it didn't help that my knee was bleeding though. Haha Oh well finally she showed is to our room which was actually the other way, I didn't need to lift my luggage at all. Just my luck, right? When we got to the room I decided to take a shower, since I felt gross. We ate lunch and they gave me eggs since they don't knwo what vegetarians eat. Afterwards I took a nap for a while. Then we went out and looked around. Apparently it was Gay pride weekend and there were lots of half naked people. Lots of butts. Then we came back for dinner, which was eggs again. After dinner we went out for some drinks, we went to a cool bar with crazy lights and afterwards just walked around. The gay festivities were insane! Everyone was half naked or fully naked. Also they don't have an open container law and they have drinks to go. We got huge to go Sangria cups. It was pretty good. I helped Neha finish hers. We went home and slept. Sunday we woke up and ate breakfast, I refused to eat the eggs and just got cereal. Then we went to the flea market. It was pretty huge, it took up a whole street for a long ways. I got some awesome overalls! They are so comfy. Then we went back for lunch before the city bus tour, which was eggs again good thing I ate cereal for breakfast. The bus tour was really relaxing with jazz music between the information bits, a little too relaxing since I fell asleep. Woke up to some drool hitting my hand, not good. After the tour we went to H&M and then back for dinner, which was surprise, eggs. I am kind of tired of eggs. After dinner we went to the main square looking for a place to watch the game. We were in a huge group though and couldn't find anything. All of us split up into smaller groups and my group ended up going to an outside big screen TV with a bunch of gay people! It was really fun! This guy behind is kept squirting everyone with water though. The game was really one sided, the end score was 4-0 and Spain won! It was pretty sweet! We ran around for a while in the masses of people chanting and singing and dancing. Then we went home since we had class in the morning. Today hasn't been very eventful. I ate cereal for breakfast again and then went to class. Class was just introducing the topics. Then we had a reception to introduce us to the school. I had vanilla milk and for snack the had some egg, of course. Then we watched a documentary about Spanish immigrants to Germany for work. It was pretty sad. Back home for lunch, the guy doesn't understand what vegetarian means and tried to give Neha and I fried fish. We do not eat fish. So instead he gave us, wait for it, egg. Now I am just sick of them and just ate my salad instead. Now we are trying to figure out what to do with our free time. I need to watch a movie for homework too. =P
